 2026  LICENSE INFORMATION
1st rifle season, archery and muzzleloader elk licenses for our hunting area, (GMU 12) are limited and issued through the draw.  2nd and 3rd rifle seasons offer unlimited over-the-counter bull elk licenses.

All cow elk licenses are issued through the draw.  All mule deer licenses are issued through the draw.

No preference points are required to draw a bull elk license for 1st rifle.  Non-resident archery elk licenses require a minimum of 4 preference points to be eligible to draw.  Muzzleloader either-sex elk licenses require a minimum of 8 preference points for a non-resident to be eligible to draw.  Muzzleloader antlerless (cow) elk licenses for a non-resident can be drawn with zero preference points.

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1949, must have completed an approved hunter education course or bowhunter education course sanctioned by a state before applying for or purchasing a license. Colorado honors hunter education courses from other states.
2026 license fees will not be finalized by Colorado Parks and Wildlife until mid to late February 2026.  Once that information is available, we will update our website. Change for 2026 with 2nd rifle season and 3rd rifle season going back to over-the-counter licenses for bull elk.
